Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif fulfilled his promise made to the people in 2009 and inaugurated Punjab Technology University, Pakistan’s first IT university.
A public sector university which will be run by an autonomous board comprising of experts and philanthropists from the private sector.
This university in collaboration with an internationally renowned IT University; Middle Eastern Technical niversity (METU-Ankara, Turkey) will offer a joint degree program as well.
1000 students will be enrolled in coming September out of which 500 deserving stdents will study on a scholarship from PEEF. The university will, in the next financial year move to a purpose built campus at Knowledge City long the ring road 6000 students will be enrolled.
The GEC will support Phd. scholars studying at Punjab Technlogy University.
It is a great step by CM Punjab.
