Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) participated in the recent held “Broadband-IPTV Asia Conference 2012” in Kuala Lumpur, to projects its SmartTV and Broadband products and services to the international media and telecom community.

PTCL Senior Manager IP Operations, Ather A. Baig represented his Company at the prestigious forum, which was attended by more than 1000 visitors, 150 internationally recognized industry experts & transformational players from over 62 countries of Asia-Pacific region.

Besides PTCL, other high-profile participating organizations including Google, News Corporation, Yahoo!, Mototola and NBC Universal.

While participating in the conference panel discussion entitled “What Can Maturing Market Players Learn from More Advanced Market Players in the Region? “Mr. Baig discussed the landmark launch and growth of PTCL’s SmartTV, Broadband services, and next generation IPTV services like OTT. The audience particularly appreciated PTCL’s recent accomplishment of 1 Million Broadband customers – a first ever in the country’s history.

PTCL said that it is the pioneer of launching IPTV services in Pakistan on August 14, 2008 under the brand “Smart TV” having its own digital head-end and bundled with PTCL DSL Broadband Pakistan. Pakistan is the world’s 4th fastest growing Broadband market, and PTCL claims to be country’s single largest Broadband service provider with 95% market share.
