Telecom Sector Can Play a Vital Role to Boost Agriculture | InfoZonePK

Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Muhammad Yaseen expressed his views that mobile phones can play decisive role to accelerate the phase of agriculture by attending the workshop name ‘What Can Telecommunication do for Agruiculture”.

Chairman PTA stated in front of participants of workshop that access to the relevant information is very important when it comes on time. Further said telecom sector in Pakistan has already expanded its network  across the Pakistan and ca play pivot role to provide the farmers relevant information, adaption of ITC and value added services to rural community and it will bring the revolution in the agriculture sector.

Workshop was organized with the collaboration of LIRNEasia, a regional ICT Policy Think Tank, based in Sri Lanka. The main agenda of this mutual initiative of PTA and LIRNEasia was to share and expose the international experience and research with Pakistan to improve the agriculture sector.

This is a lesson that we can learn from best telecom agriculture models and also implement such models to boost the productivity of agriculture by using ICT.

PTA Chairman also stated that agriculture sector is considered the backbone of Pakistan’s economy and if we see agriculture counts 21%of national income, 45% of countries workforce and provide the livelihood to 60% of our rural community.

So in Pakistan telecom sector’s massive growth is elaborate exemplary model discussed in the world and there is no hurdle to prove best agriculture model in front of globe as well if we are serious by taking the advantage of telecom sector and adopting the best agriculture and telecom model.
