Senate Standing Committee Asked PTA Over the Delay in 3G License Auction | InfoZonePK

On Thursday, a Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Division was held under the supervision of chairperson Senator Kalsum Perveen at parliament house in which committee demonstrated their anger over the delay in 3G License auction and misappropriation in the universal service fund.

Additionally, the committee directed the PTA to end late night call packages including obnoxious SMS. The committee also instructed PTA to make all calls on emergency and inquiry numbers free of cost.

The committee observed that an amount of Rs. 500 billion was expected to national exchequer during financial year 2012-13 through issuance of 3G license but due to delay the government was deprived of the said income.

The committee would convene a special meeting discuss the issues relating to the sale of 3G license in which auction supervisory committee was also called.

The management of PTA told o committee that the organization has earned the profit of more than Rs. 56 billion during last fie years on which the chairperson of the committee sought the five years audit records of PTA.

The committee was told that some 215 cases filed by different companies against PTA are lying pending in different courts, while on the other hand PTA has filed some 800 cases against different companies that Rs. 12 million were spent on the advertisement campaign of 3G license auction, however the advertisement will be continue and MoIT will immediately advertise a job for consultant in the media to expedite the process of 3G license auction.
