PM Directed to Verify SIMs before March 7, 2013 | InfoZonePK

Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has directed to Ministry of Information Technology SIMs(MoIT) and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to work with all telecom operators and make an efficient and working road-map for the verification of SIMs by March 7, 2013

Prime Minister issued this direction in a meeting with cellular operators who met at the PM’s House.

In the meeting cellular operators told to Prime Minister that the verification of SIMs was taking longer time than they had expected and it is not possible for them to verify the SIMs within the deadline.

Earlier, cellular operators had given a deadline to its customers of December 31, 2012 to have their SIMs verified or else their SIMs which is not verified would be blocked.

Cellular operators further told to Prime Minister that they were selling the SIMs only through their Customer Services Offices and before this there were 80,000 outlets in the country which were selling the SIMs.

After listenign all the concern of cellular operators, Prime Minister directed to MoIT and PTA to resolve the issue of verification of SIMs before March 7, 2013.

Currently cellular operators have started to sell the SIMs at specified outlets and Online SIM delivery at customer’s door step.
