HBL Started Branchless Banking ‘HBL Express’ Countrywide | InfoZonePK

HBL is one of the leading banks in the country with huge lending of credit to agriculture HBL-Express-branchless-bankingsector. The bank issued loans of Rs 30.5 billion to different segments of agri-business in 2012 with 5.60 percent growth from previous year. It maintained deposits of Rs 8.44 billion from the agriculture sector in 2012 with paltry growth of 0.7 percent in 2012.

The bank is one of the major lenders to agriculture sector so far in the current fiscal year having remarkable share in overall lending of Rs 231 billion in nine months.

The management of HBL aims at penetrating the rural sector to boost the economy based on agriculture sector having contribution of 24 percent in GDP and 45 percent in overall employment. The branchless services will play a vital role in the financial inclusion of the agriculture sector in economy along with its documentation paving a way towards enhancement of taxes from the biggest sector of the country.

The launch of branchless banking services will give an edge to the bank to compete with leading bank in lending and depositing money from agriculture sector through its value-added services and facilitations to farmers and entrepreneurs of agri-business.

Agriculture sector is the fourth largest lending segment of HBL after government securities and bonds, chemicals and pharmaceuticals sector individuals’ loans, and wholesale and retail sector.

HBL Express service will include, home and international remittances, utility bill payments, Government-to Persons payment, mobile valet accounts and corporate solutions.

Besides rural areas, HBL has focused urban areas through mobile banking with the development of its mobile application that will provide an easy solution to customers for transaction of their money through their mobile phone handsets.

The mobile phone network is one of its kinds as customers could use mobile phone gadget and network of any company for different mobile banking services including payment of utility bills, money transactions through their valet accounts.

The mobile banking services will enhance the number of banks accounts of the company as well and increase banks cash inflows tremendously as currently the country has more than 120 million cellular phone subscriptions.

HBL is the second bank after MCB Bank launched a mobile phone services for their customers on bank-led model as previously majority of the branchless banking services were started based on teleco-led model.

HBL is kicking off commercially launch of its mobile banking and branchless banking service after it got approval of State Bank of Pakistan recently and completion of successful soft launch of the service as a pilot project has been running since September last year.
