In line with its commitment to ensure higher accuracy of subscriber data, Telenor 
Pakistan has initiated the installation of BVS at its retail outlets in Karachi and Baluchistan. The successful deployment of Biometric Verification System (BVS) for activation of SIMs at all Telenor Pakistan’s Sales & Service Centers (S&SCs) and Franchises across Pakistan has already been completed. On 10th March 2014, the first BVS at a retail outlet was successfully installed in Karachi – making Telenor Pakistan the first operator which has deployed BVS at its retail outlets.
It is pertinent to note here that Telenor Pakistan has been selling SIMs through BVS at all of its S&SCs and Franchises in Karachi since December 01, 2013 and completed the installation of BVS for activation of SIMs across Pakistan at S&SCs and Franchises on December 19, 2013.
Currently, Telenor Pakistan’s retailers are being trained on the new system to ensure seamless transition to meet customer demands. Moreover, in order to facilitate consumers, special SIM sale counters for BVS have been set up at all such retail outlets, providing customers useful information on the new SIM sale process through placement of informative posters, standees and handing out brochures to customers.
Commenting on the development, Irfan Wahab Khan, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor Pakistan expressed satisfaction and said, “Telenor Pakistan has always been at the forefront for working with the government and authorities to guarantee the delivery of secure and reliable solutions to our customers and we are pleased to announce that we have initiated the installation of BVS at our retail outlets in the country. This step will significantly increase the number of touch points where customers can walk in and purchase SIMS conveniently and lawfully.” “This is the 3rd and last phase, whereby installation of BVS at all of our retail outlets and Sahulat Ghars, will be completed by August 2014,” he added.
Telenor Pakistan has procured and deployed state of the art technology to ensure maximum accuracy of thumb impression capturing and efficient verification process. These systems have also been previously used extensively in Telenor Sahulat Ghars across the country.
