TelenorYouthForum

Applications are now open for the third Telenor Youth Forum, taking place in Oslo, Norway in December 2015. Gathering young opinion leaders from 13 countries, the event aims to provide a global platform to engage youth and empower a generation of digital natives. This year’s topic is “Knowledge for All”.

While expressing his delight to announce the call for entries for Telenor Youth Forum 2015, Michael Foley, CEO, Telenor Pakistan said, “Pakistani youth has all the potential to change the world with their innovative ideas and we at Telenor Pakistan are providing yet another platform to the youth to enthrall the whole world with their abilities. The competition, which is in its third year, is in line with our ambition to bring Internet for All – encouraging the digital generation to use mobile communication technology to improve lives, drive growth and empower societies.”

Last year, Telenor Pakistan chose Maaz Imran and Sadaf Amin to represent Pakistan at the Norway initiative. Previous events were known as the Telenor Youth Summit. From 2015 the Forum aims to transform into an ongoing conversation that is both physical and digital, and not confined to the Oslo event alone.

Calling Young Opinion Leaders to Connect, Share and Transform:

“We believe youth, growing up in a connected and digital time, are uniquely positioned to predict and advise on how to build a better digital future for all. With the Telenor Youth Forum, we gather young people from the Nordics, Europe and Asia to connect and share views and perspectives on the challenges and benefits facing an increasingly connected world. We are looking forward to welcoming two participants from each of the 13 countries we operate in, to an eventful Youth Forum during the Nobel Peace Prize week in Oslo in December,” said Telenor Group’s Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Affairs, Katja Nordgaard.

Ideal candidates for the Oslo event are young opinion shapers, up to the age of 28 years, with fresh perspectives and strong voices. Expertise within a given field is not required, but proficiency in English and interesting insights into how digital communication impacts people, learning and society at large is expected.

Local and Global Selection Process:

Two candidates will be selected from each of the 13 countries where Telenor Group is present. Local selection processes will recommend a shortlist of up to 4 candidates, while selection of the final two candidates travelling to Oslo will be made by an international selection panel consisting of representatives from civil society, academia and Telenor top management.

How will access to information and knowledge impact people, business and communities, and in what ways will societies transform when knowledge becomes available to all? What is the role of technology in bringing knowledge for all, and are there really limits to what technology can achieve?

These are some of the questions Telenor hopes to answer with the help of participants at the Telenor Youth Forum 2015. The event offers youth a global stage, opportunities to meet and discuss with leaders and luminaries within their fields – and a social and professional experience of a lifetime.
