National Incubation Centre (NIC) Karachi has announced the formation of a comprehensive network of sector-specific advisory councils, aimed to provide startups with structured guidance, strategic insight, and access to deep professional networks.
NIC Karachi has constituted 21 specialized councils, with nine members in each council, bringing together a total of 189 distinguished professionals from more than 150 organizations spanning industry, academia, investment, government, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, originally established one year ago with 11 councils and expanded to 21 based on startup feedback and evolving ecosystem needs.
The purpose of the Tech Councils is to work in alignment with the Advisory Board to provide strategic guidance, mentorship, and industry insight that supports NIC Karachi in enabling startups, fostering meaningful industry linkages, and strengthening Pakistan’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“We are honored to have such respected council members on board, who have graciously taken time from their busy professional routines to contribute their expertise and guidance. Their experience, leadership, and networks will play a critical role in shaping stronger, more resilient startups, stated” Project Director, Syed Azfar Hussain.
The councils will support NIC Karachi through resource mobilization, advocacy, networking, and mentorship, assisting in identifying funding opportunities and partnerships, advocating for NIC Karachi locally and globally, facilitating connections across the ecosystem, and providing hands-on guidance to incubated startups and alumni. The role of the councils is advisory in nature, complementing the operational responsibilities carried out by the NIC Karachi management team.
The initiative reflects NIC Karachi’s broader strategy to institutionalize ecosystem support and move beyond incubation alone, by embedding industry expertise directly into the startup journey. The councils are expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of mentorship, improving founder decision-making, and strengthening Pakistan’s position as a competitive and innovation-driven startup market.
NIC Karachi expressed its gratitude to all council members for their commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and contributing to the long-term development of the national startup ecosystem.
The newly formed councils include the Academia and Industry Council, Advisory Board, Agritech & Foodtech Council, AI & Emerging Technologies Council, Corporate Innovation Council, Cyber Security Council, E-Commerce and RetailTech Council, EdTech Council, EnerTech & ClimateTech Council, Entrepreneur Support Organisation (ESO) Council, ESG Council, Fintech Council, Creative Economy, Gaming & Animation Council, Government and Institutional Support Council, HealthTech Council, Industrial Automation Council, Investment Advisory Council, Semiconductor & Hardware Council, Smart Cities & CivicTech Council, Supply Chain, Logistics, Mobility & Transport Council, and the Women in Technology Council.
