3G Service Attracting Subscribers in India | InfoZonePK

Since the launch of 3G in India, its adoption rates among the mobile phone users remained very low, a report by TRAI (Telecom Reglatory Authorit y in India) stats. According to report, there are 893.8million mobile phone subscribers in India and market surveys uggests that the total number of 3G subscribers in India are just about 2% of the total customer base.

Firms are exploring and trying to implement new ideas to fix this issue. Tata Teleservices launched a series of educational initiatives, starting with an experiment campaign at Tata DOCOMO Dive-In stores, where anyone could walk in, learn and experience 3G technology.

According to Vodafone spokesperson, just 3% of cell phone users are currently using smart phones and this is the main hurdle in the way of 3G growth.

Operators like Reliance Communication are planning to introduce flexible tariff to address the pricing issue.
