WEF Says, Global Digital Divide Still Exists | InfoZonePK

The World Economic Forum 2012 (WEF) published a report assessing different countries by various parameters o using ICT technology. About 142 countries all over the world were selected and were evaluated on the basis of ICT usage and its contribution to economic development.

On the occasion Benat Bilbao-Osorio, associate director and co-author of the report, commented that divide is still there between developing and developed countries despite all the past’s efforts.

Having an overall look over the report concludes that European countries are on the top in utilizing ICT for economical as well as societal development and transformation. However, in the Europe, as well, there are dissimilarities of trend as: Nordic countries are on the top followed by advanced economics of Germany and France, followed by south European countries of Portugal and Spain etc followed by countries in the Eastern Europe.
