PTA on the direction of MoIT has blocked the access to Twitter in Pakistan on Sunday.
According to reports, PTA blocked Twitter on account of an ongoing competition of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) caricatures.
In a statement, PTA said, it tried to contact Twitter management and asked to stop the such tweets from happening. After alsmost 5 fixes, the authority received a response fro Twitter “they cannot stop individuals from doing such things on the website”.
“We sent the requests to Twitter management that discussion on the Twitter about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the upcoming competition was considered derogatory but Twitter refused to act upon the request”. Chairman PTA added.
In night almost at 11:30 PM Twitter was working fine on different networks including PTCL.
