Asus introduced the Thunderbolt EX PCIe upgrade card at the Computex 2012, which will add a high speed Thunderbolt port to its 7 Series motherboard. The add-on card plugs into a PCIe x4 slot. It has a DisplayPort pass-through, so that the Thunderbolt port can devilver video signals in addition to data transfer. The port can daisy-chain up to 8 Thunderbolt devices.
The Thunderbolt upgrade works with Asus P8Z77-V DELUXE, P8Z77-V PRO, P8Z77-V, LE PLUS, P8Z77-V LE, P8Z77-V LK, P8H77-V, P8H77-M PRO, Sabertooth Z77 and Maximus V Gene motherboards.
