According to the new policy of International Clearing House (ICH), which has been implemented from October 1st, 2012 and amazingly oversees Pakistani callers now
have to pay $150 million extra per month to call their family and friends in Pakistan. PTA officially implemented the new operatives. Previously call rate to Pakistan was 10-10.5 cent per minute, but now it has bee increased up to 10 to 12 cent per minute.
The CCP showed serious concerns about the new policy of PTA will create the monopoly of one operator and encourage the grey traffic which would be serious loss in this regard.
Some officials from telecom industry said new regime of PTA will increase the cost of oversees Pakistani callers and already they are paying big amount if we compare the rates of our neighbour countries.
On the other hand, PTA officials have totally denied the concerns and said there is no way of leakage and we have already developed the system to control the grey traffic and regularly monitoring these activities and telecom operators will also get their quota respectively and as per their exciting share.
