MNP Service Banned in Pakistan, PTA Issued Notice to All Telecom Operators | InfoZonePK

It is the latest progress that PTA has issued to all Telecom Operators in Pakistan to Stop the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service immediately. So the MNP has been banned in Pakistan from today till further notice.

A directive from PTA says that on direction of Ministry of Interior a ban has been imposed in MNP that would be effective immediately.

A meeting help at Ministry of Interior under chaired of Rehman Malik, which advised to ban MNP for security reasons.

I have confirmed from Telecom Operators (Mobilink, Ufone, Warid, Zong, Telenor), that they have stopped immediately MNP requests and cancelled all pending MNP requests. Further if any number’s network is changed then it will remain on that network till further notice.

MNP service was launched in March 2007 in Pakistan that is availed by million of cellular subscribers due to attractive incentives with this facility in form of free balance, free minutes and free SMS.

According to records, kept on PTA website, over 25 million customers had availed MNP service till September 2012.
