Breaking: PM Lifts Ban on MNP & Disapproves SIMs Home Delivery Process | InfoZonePK

It is a breaking news of today from Pakistan Telecom industry that, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Asharaf has lif ban on Mobile Number Portability (MNP) service that was banned by PTA on 14th November, 2012 by a directive of Interior Ministry.

According to resources it was decided after the meeting of PM, Raja Pervez Ahraf with CEO’s of all cellular companies.

Along with PM also disapproves the decision to deliver the SIMs on customer’s home address.

There was a lot of criticism on these decisions made by Interior Minister, Mr. Rehman Malik due to Security reasons. Mr. Rehman’s all decisions due to which he asked PTA to issue directive to all telecom operators which were made on November 13th, 2012.

In the meeting it was decided that ban on Mobile nigh packages will be remain, and all mobile companies also agreed to this decision.

Further in meeting, PM Raja Pervez Ashraf directed the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of IT to immediately sit with customer s and other relevant authorities to streamline the impact and local assembling of cellular handsets in the country and ensure that all handsets bear unique identification number i.e. IMEI and handsets without IMER and duplicate IMEI be banned.

The persons who attended the meeting, includes PM’s Advisor on IT, Basit Riaz, Secretary Interior Khawaja Saddique Akbar, Chairman PTA Mr. Farooq Awan, Secretary IT and other senior officials.
