Zong is sponsoring the National Open Polo Championship for the Quaid-e-Azam Gold ZONG-Polo-ChampionshipCup 2013. Six teams will be competing through the tournament starting from March 06, 2013 to March 17, 2013 while its final scheduled for Sunday March 17, 2013.

The National Polo Championship this year has 6 teams where the lower limit of the tournament is 10 goals and the upper limit is 14 goals. There are 6 foreign players participating in this tournament. Renowned foreign Umpires like Marcus Hancock, Matias Vial Perez, Santiago Mendivil, Gaston Moore, Manuel Crespo and James Harper will be participating in the event.

Praising the role of Zong in the promotion of this great sport, President of Lahore Polo Club, Abdul Haye Mehta said “Zong’s role is tremendous as far as the development of polo is concerned as they have come forward to sponsor high goal tournaments at the Lahore Polo Club for the past many years “. Mehta urged the business houses to follow the example of Zong and extend sponsorship and patronage of polo tournaments and the riding school of Lahore Polo club.

National open polo championship was incepted way back in 1963 and this year’s event will be the 50thedition of the national polo championship. The trophy was first introduce as the El Effendi Cup, and was presented by Brig H M el Effendi who was himself a 4 goal player.
