A high-profile Thought-Leadership CEOs Panel comprising of industry leaders and 
experts will open the 6th Annual Pakistan Telecommunications Conference 2013 (TeleCON 2013) on June 13, 2013 at the Marriott Hotel in Karachi. The theme of the conference this year is “The Next Wave in Telecommunication: The Digitized Society/ Consumer”.
The panel will discuss the current and future status of the telecom and IT sectors in Pakistan and the need for reform and sustainability keeping in view global and regional trends in technology development. While the telecom industry has remained stable albeit without much foreign direct investment, including a stalemate in the issuance of the 3-G licenses, the IT sector has been making inroads on the international front.
The telecom sector will be represented by Mr. Bilal Munir Sheikh, Chief Operating Officer, Mobilink, whereas the Information Technology (IT) sector will be spearheaded by Ms. Jehan Ara, President, Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA). Mobile telephony in Pakistan will also be discussed as a game-changer in today’s services portfolio of banks.
Mr. Javed Jabbar, former Federal Minister, Science & Technology will be delivering the keynote address giving an overview of industry trends; and an insight on policy matters by Mr. Salman Ansari, former Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology. The conference brings together federal and provincial government representatives, regulatory bodies, investors, financial institutions, service providers, marketers, academia and specialists from all facets of the telecom as well as IT sector.
