Mobilink Foundation has handed over a Mobile Library to the students of Pehli Kiran School System (PKSS) of Jahangir Akhtar Qureshi (JAQ) trust as a means to encouraging extracurricular education among the school children. The Mobile Library will carry books across 8 campuses in Islamabad and the adjourning areas for more than 1400 students to read.
The key to the Mobile Library was handed over in a ceremony held at the Mobilink head office in Islamabad. The ceremony was attended by Mobilink Senior Management, Mobilink Torchbearers, JAQ Trust board of Trustees and school children of PKSS.
Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communication Mobilink speaking at the ceremony said, ‘Our partnership with JAQ trust is part of Mobilink Foundation’s broader commitment to provide education opportunities for the under-privileged children of Pakistan. We hope that the Mobilink Mobile Library will go a long way in developing children’s interest in book reading and understanding the benefits of education.’
The Mobile Library has been set up in a hatch-back vehicle to carry story books, activity books, fairy tales and general knowledge books for children. The Mobile Library will travel between the PKSS Islamabad campuses as a means to providing them books during their ‘reading periods’ each week. The vehicle will also serve as a means for travel for PKSS teachers and JAQ trust volunteer staff for holding interactive sessions using the Mobile Library.
