Mobilink Foundation has partnered with Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to provide food assistance to the flood affectees in the Jhang District and its surrounding areas. Nutritional assistance was provided to 500 families with packages that included perishable food items and bottled water. The partnership marks the first phase of relief operations that Mobilink Foundation aims at carrying out in other parts of the country.

Omar Manzur Head of Corporate Communication Mobilink Commenting on the relief activities said, “Mobilink is always at the forefront when it comes to extending support to our fellow countrymen in natural disasters. Our partnership with PDMA in the flood relief drive is to ensure that the food items reach PDMA identified regions. Mobilink Torchbearers and CSR team is reaching out to the flood hit areas with food assistance and drinking water and is committed to extend every possible support to the flood affectees.”

The relief program is designed to counter the impact of flood related devastation caused by the torrential rains and canal breaches. During the first leg Mobilink Foundation will provide ready to eat food supplies for the affectees, who have lost their livelihood and assets during the catastrophe and are in need of edible items. Mobilink Foundation’s Torchbearers accompanied Mobililink’s Relief Caravan to handover the relief packs amongst the affectees in Atahara hazari, Daragai Shah, Wassu and other surrounding areas of Jhang.

Over the past decade, the foundation has launched several notable initiatives for emergency relief in natural calamities. Mobilink Foundation contributed significantly in the relief and rehabilitation operations for 2005 earthquakes, 2008 and 2010 floods, Awaran Earthquake in 2013, Tharparkar Drought and the recent IDP Crisis.
