Infrastructure development is increasing on Lahore’s outskirts, bringing about an expected boost to the construction of local housing schemes and residential developments, according to an analysis from property portal Lamudi.pk.

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has recently launched projects in the adjoining districts of Lahore. Development is set to begin in Kasur, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib through an ordinance, which was passed in September last year. The ordinance has allowed LDA to carry out various works related to infrastructure, building control and approval of housing schemes if the government assigns them to do so.

LDA has kicked off construction of the Kasur Bypass project, which is expected to be completed at an approximate cost of Rs.1.5 billion in the next four months. This project will enable people to save millions on both fuel costs and travel time, with thousands of vehicles to benefit, according to an analysis from the real estate experts at Lamudi.pk. Additionally, it will lead to local expertise, labor, materials and services being utilized.

Saad Arshed, Country Director of Lamudi.pk, said: “The government needs to take more of such initiatives and keep developing more infrastructural facilities. These provide a boost to the entire local community situated in the surrounding area, while also facilitating the development of housing schemes.”

The bypass project will be a 9.5km long two-lane dual carriage that links Ferozepur Road at Sadar Dewan to Depalpur Road at Faqir Wali in district Kasur. It will be designed according to the latest construction techniques and, once completed, will showcase LED lights, state-of-the-art landscaping work and roundabouts for self-regulating the traffic.

The construction of this bypass is expected to lead to other commercial opportunities, including increased business transactions with other adjoining cities. Better infrastructural facilities in the form of roads also contribute to new housing societies springing up in the nearby vicinities.
