Aimed at creating awareness about Internet of Things (IoT) and helping the society realize its true potential, Telenor Pakistan recently organized an interactive exhibition -‘Let’s embrace the future’. As part of its ambition to provide internet for all through innovative products and solutions, Telenor Pakistan provided real time IoT experience to their privileged consumers through zones and live demos of IoT enabled devices. The day-long event also marked the launch of Telenor Pakistan’s ‘Connected Device Project’ comprising of various IoT based products.
Internet of Things is a development of the Internet in which everyday objects and people have network connectivity to enable them to achieve greater value and service by exchanging data with the connected devices allowing them to send and receive data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
Solutions presented at the expo included wide variety of devices such as energy management systems, automated security and tracking devices, biometric verification, solutions for performance management and control of various home appliances from remote locations through internet, smart metering and smart homes.
During his keynote, Michael Foley, Chief Executive Officer, Telenor Pakistan said, “We are delighted to introduce the IoT concept in Pakistan, which is a continuation of our ambition to bring internet for all. The IoT concept will bring Pakistan at par with the world by integrating internet and technology in daily activities to make the lives easier and more productive.”“For businesses, it opens up opportunities to increase efficiency, introduce better (smarter) services and add new revenue streams. The possibilities are endless as Pakistan is an emerging market, which is adding a number of internet users every minute, and we look forward to the future of IoT with confidence,” he added.
Besides Telenor Pakistan’s top management executives, officials from the Telenor Group also attended the event and featured various devices and platforms, in the presence of academia, partner vendors, small & medium enterprises, media and budding entrepreneurs.
