PTA Finally Withdraws its Earlier Directive about SIM Sales and MNP Ban | InfoZonePK

Finally Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued the notification for withdrawal of its Notification for Ban of new SIM sales and MNP.

The new notification is with the explaination of new riles of sale of new SIMs and lifting the ban on MNP.

In the notification is is explained about the sales of new SIMs is that it will be issued through owned service centers and franchises only. PTA also said that all these sales must follow standard operating procedures defined by the authority.

Notification said that ban on MNP is lifted, along with the requirement of second identification document for new sales withdrawn. SIM home delivery is withdrawn as well.

It is also said in notification that all cellular operators will share lists of sales outlets, i.e. franchises and service centres with PTA by December 10th, 2012.

Notification also said that cellular operators will be consulted to regularize the unverified SIMs in the market, and deadline for elimination of unverified SIMs is extended till February 28th, 2013.

Further said in the notification by PTA that cellular operators ahould deploy susyems at their service centres and franchises for recording thumb impressions of new subscribers by February 28th, 2013.

It is confirmed from cellular operators that they have received the notifications and started the sales of new SIMs after a delay of 7 days.

Cellularo companies are still in progress for the upgradation of their 789 system. It is hope it will be operational soon.
